Best Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Editions

In the late 1950’s, a small team of Best Grand Seiko watch finest watchmakers came together with a very simple yet ambitious aim. It was to create the very best watch of which they were capable, with the highest possible levels of precision, legibility, durability and ease of use. In December 1960, their first creation was born and, in keeping with the team’s ambition and desire to create the “king” of watches, it was named Grand Seiko. It had a level of accuracy equivalent to the superior grade of the recognized chronometer standard at the time and it marked the first step on a sixty year journey towards the summit of the watchmaking art.

2020 marks the 60th anniversary of this achievement. Of course, the number sixty is one of the most fundamental numbers in horology, but, in Japan, it has an additional significance as a moment of new energy and re-birth. Today, to begin a full year of celebrations of this important landmark, four new timepieces are released that both celebrate the first sixty years of achievement and point the way forward to the next sixty year cycle of Grand Seiko’s life. All four of the new creations have dials in Grand Seiko’s signature blue color but each one exemplifies a very different aspect of the wide range of expertise and craftsmanship that Grand Seiko commands today.

The 60th anniversary celebration starts with two automatic watches that are unmistakably and quintessentially Grand Seiko. The men’s watch pays homage to the famous 44GS from 1967 whose design was the first ever expression of the uniquely Japanese Grand Seiko Style which, ever since, has been its visual signature. It features the high beat Caliber 9S85 which delivers an accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds a day and a 55 hour power reserve. In honor of the 60th anniversary, the Grand Seiko symbol is in gold and the seconds hand is in a vivid red, colors that, together, symbolize a sunrise and all the new energy that a new dawn brings. SBGH281

The women’s automatic watch is powered by Caliber 9S27, an automatic movement specifically designed for Grand Seiko’s women’s collection. It delivers a perfect balance of precision (+8 to -3 seconds a day), power reserve (50 hours) and slimness. It has a mother of pearl dial in, of course, Grand Seiko blue and has diamonds as hour markers and which is framed on its bezel with 45 diamonds. After all, it is a diamond anniversary. STGK015

The 60th anniversary is also celebrated with a new quartz movement. Caliber 9F85 has a time difference adjustment function that allows the hour hand to be adjusted without stopping the seconds hand and thus preserving its high precision when the wearer changes time zones. This new caliber makes its debut in two 60th anniversary designs. The first has a version of Caliber 9F85 that is specially adjusted to a level of accuracy of ±5 seconds a year. This high precision is marked by the five pointed star at the six o’clock position. The dial, too, has a unique marking with a 2020 pattern, reminding the wearer of this special year. The case design is modern in its execution. Its bezel is thin which allows the dial to be wider and therefore more legible. The case side has a sharp curve so that more light reflects off it and adds to the “sparkle of quality” that is an essential part of the Grand Seiko Style. The seconds hand of this timepiece is also in a vivid red. It will be available in March 2020 as a limited edition of 2,500. SBGP007

The second watch to have the new quartz caliber joins the Sport Collection. In addition to the Grand Seiko blue dial, it features a ceramic bezel of the same color that is almost impervious to scratches. The markers as well as the hour and minute hands are coated with LumiBrite so as to increase the legibility of the time even in low light conditions. It has 20 bar water resistance, magnetic resistance of 16,000 A/m and a screw-down crown for enhanced security. SBGP015

The Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi opens its doors

A new chapter in the 60-year history of Grand Seiko opens with the inauguration of an entirely new studio dedicated to the production of Grand Seiko’s mechanical watches. It will be home to the craftsmen and women who assemble and adjust each and every Grand Seiko mechanical watch.

The Replica BEST Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi was declared opened on July 20th, 2020 in a ceremony that took place simultaneously at the Wako building in Tokyo and at the studio in Shizukuishi. In Tokyo, Shinji Hattori, the Chairman and CEO of Seiko Watch Corporation, was joined by the studio’s distinguished architect, Kengo Kuma, while, in Shizukuishi, the Governor of Iwate Prefecture, Takuya Tasso, graced the occasion with his presence alongside the studio’s directors.

As he announced the opening of the studio, Shinji Hattori said, “The studio provides the ideal environment for our craftsmen and women to bring Grand Seiko’s mechanical watches to life and for the next generation of watchmakers to be trained and their skills developed. It embodies Grand Seiko’s philosophy, The Nature of Time, and is clear evidence to the world of our dedication to the art of mechanical watchmaking.”

Explaining his design for the studio, Kengo Kuma said, “Grand Seiko’s view of the importance of nature is reflected in every corner of its design and construction. I greatly enjoyed the challenge of making the clean room, where watches of the highest precision are assembled, from wood. To balance natural materials with the room’s high technology technical requirements was a new and intriguing task.” The studio has a floor area of 2,095 square meters and not only gives the Grand Seiko watchmakers an enhanced working environment but also opens up future production potential.  SBGH283

The studio also incorporates an exhibition space where visitors can immerse themselves in Grand Seiko’s history as well as explore the manufacturing characteristics that make Grand Seiko’s mechanical watches so special. Events will be held at which visitors can try their hand at assembling a mechanical watch themselves in a dedicated space known as the Studio Seminar Room.

A lounge on the second floor looks out at Mt. Iwate, the mountain that inspires many aspects of Grand Seiko’s designs. The lounge contains an exhibition that explains the world of Grand Seiko and will also showcase the brand’s first ‘concept creation’, a watch movement which will reveal the full extent of the ingenuity and skill of every one of Grand Seiko’s specialists, from designers to technicians. Full details of this remarkable ‘concept creation’ will be released at a later date.

In addition, a Grand Seiko watch made exclusively for, and at the studio, will be presented in the lounge and will be available for purchase. It is a limited edition Hi-beat 36000.

Seiko Watch Replica Grand Seiko 9S anniversaire SBGH265 Platinum case – Black Leather

Grand Seiko watch replica made fake movement

Three special movements, a new case and a unique dial. All to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the the Grand Seiko 9S mechanical caliber.

After the launch of the very first Grand Seiko watch in 1960, the creation of the 9S mechanical caliber in 1998 was perhaps the most important moment in the history of Replica Grand Seiko watch. The 9S caliber was entirely new and designed from scratch to deliver the high precision and excellent durability for which Grand Seiko was renowned. Ever since, the 9S caliber has been continuously enhanced, with new Spron alloys for both the main and balance springs and MEMS engineering, a technique that allows key components to be manufactured to tolerances as small as one thousandth of a millimeter. Today, 9S is the platform on which the entire Grand Seiko suite of mechanical calibers is built and has earned a deserved reputation as one of the world’s finest calibers, thanks to its high precision, long power reserve and robust construction.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this caliber, the Grand Seiko replica watch team has created a series of three limited edition timepieces, each of which, in different ways, pays homage to the high precision that caliber 9S achieves.

A landmark in Grand Seiko’s pursuit of precision, V.F.A., is honored in platinum.

“Very Fine Adjusted” may not be the most evocative name but V.F.A. is a revered set of initials for the Grand Seiko team. First used in 1969, it defined a Grand Seiko watch that was adjusted so skillfully that it achieved a precision rate far in excess of the Grand Seiko Standard. This new 2018 creation proudly carries on the V.F.A. tradition thanks to the extraordinary precision rate of its 9S85 Hi-Beat 36000 caliber, +3 to -1 seconds per day, a level achieved by the highest level of adjustment and a testing program extended to 34 days. The watch is offered in a platinum 950 case which is a new interpretation of the most widely admired Grand Seiko design, created by Nobuhiro Kosugi, the designer of the first 9S watch in 1998.
Two surfaces of Zaratsu polishing extend to the very edge of the lug where these curved surfaces meet the hairline finish to create a perfect triangle that only the most skilled Grand Seiko craftsmen and women can achieve. The dial, too, is exceptional; its design incorporates the special mark that was used to designate the watches made by the team at Daini Seikosha, the company now known as Seiko Instruments Inc., which developed its first Grand Seiko hi-beat watch in 1968, 50 years ago this year. This long-remembered mark alternates with the GS initials in a delicate mosaic that radiates out from the center of the dial in a geometric pattern.

Two additional limited editions celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 9S caliber. The first is in an 18k gold case and the second in stainless steel. Both share the same case design as the V.F.A. creation, the same caliber 9S85 and the same dial design. The gold version, however, is adjusted to the Grand Seiko Special standard and offers a precision rate of +4 to -2 seconds per day. As with the V.F.A. version, the oscillating weight carries the Grand Seiko lion emblem in 18k gold as a symbol of the enhanced accuracy. The stainless steel design also has a special oscillating weight. It is made of titanium and tungsten and the titanium surface is colored blue by an anodic oxidation process.*

All three limited editions are available from March 2018 at selected Grand Seiko retail partners and the Seiko and Grand Seiko boutiques.
* Anodic oxidation treatment
This is a surface treatment in which metals are subjected to electrolysis so as to generate artificially an oxide film. Titanium oxide film produces color according to the light refraction index, enabling production of different colors by varying the thickness of the oxide film.
